Say hi to Marie-France Vodikulwakidi! She already appeared on the blog this week while she was interviewing Miguel and since she’s such an interesting/sweet/caring/… person you’ll get to know her better as we speak.

We’ve met quite some time ago at the wholesale agency I used to work. I can still remember trying to start a conversation in my best French and she replied in something that sounds like the Dutch they speak in Ghent. Destiny was on our side and decided we had to become colleagues and good friends. This hasn’t only been positive for our lives but also for our language skills, we learned how to speak a mix of French, English and Dutch and that seems to work out better than expected.

Marie-France can be defined as a modern nomad. She grew up in the Brussels area, lives in Ghent and also spends quite some time in Antwerp. In her spare time, she tries to travel as much as possible. She just came back from Tel Aviv and is already planning her next trip to Africa. If she could choose, she wouldn’t be spending a lot of time in Belgium. Her true wish is to live in LA, work in New York, get manicured in Beijing and spend the rest of her time in Tel Aviv and Berlin.

Fashion wise this means she developed a rather eclectic style. Marie-France isn’t hooked on one specific brand however she always finds something at H&M, Pull&Bear, Episode (Brussels) and Prive Joke (Brussels). Most of the items in her wardrobe ended up there after a holiday like the boots from Stockholm, Melody Eshani accessories from LA and massive bargains from New York and Beijing. In general she doesn’t care about designers, only the Delvaux bag she got from her mother means a lot to her.

When having a day off you can find her having lunch at La Nouvelle Jeunesse (Brussels) or Mosquito Coast (Ghent). Probably listening to some songs of her favorite artists like Aaliyah, Kanye West, Lianne La Havas or Jay-Z because music is her life. Every year MF tries to go to about 15-20 concerts/festivals to discover new artists she might like. And she’s picky, only musicians who give her goose bumps or make her cry can join the club.

Thank you MF’ke, again and again and again 🙂
