Choosing the right perfume really is one of the most difficult things… Ok, this sound quite dramatic and there are more difficult things but you know what I mean 😉 I used to be loyal to Coco Mademoiselle from Chanel but after a few years I really needed a change. So I tried Marrakech Eau de toilette intense from Aesop, Musk from Kiehl’s and a few I forgot about. Right now there are two new fragrances that I’m testing: Indiscrète from Libertin Louison and Modern Muse from Estée Lauder… let’s share my findings!

Libertin Louison Indiscrète

Never heard of Libertin Louison, shame on me! Bumped into this perfume at Lulu store in Ostend and I was both impressed and embarrassed that I didn’t know the brand. So I looked it up and found this information on the website: Luison is a classically-trained perfumer who creates original fragrances in his laboratory in Antwerp. He studied art, left Belgium to settle in Paris and came back to set up his independent laboratory in Antwerp. Apparently he’s the only Belgian nose, sounds a bit funny but it means he really is the specialist when it comes to creating fragrances.

The owner of Lulu store let me smell all the different perfumes and Indiscrète was my top favorite. Now I’m reading the explanation that goes with it I understand why: “memories of a day in the countryside, a beautiful spring day outdoors, linnen drying, apple tart”. Those might just be a few of my favorite things.

I’m a fan!

Estée Lauder Modern Muse

This is a bit more commercial fragrance but I really fell for the name modern muse. I already saw the ad with the most stylish Kardashian (a.k.a. Kendall) on it, not really a fan of the family but I do like her. Anyways, never had a Estée Lauder perfume before so I was even curious about my own opinion (ok, I secretly used “Secret Paradise” my mom had back in the days and since she will probably be reading this, I’m sorry ;)). This one is a bit sweeter than Indiscrète but not like I-just-fell-in-a-giant-box-of-candy sweet. It also has a fresh spring vibe but more a field of flowers or a romantic date one.

I always know that when I like a perfume, I’m constantly smelling myself… this sound weird but yet again you know what I mean. I caught myself doing this several times when wearing Modern Muse so I guess that can only be a positive sign.

With special thanks to Lulu Store and Estée Lauder for letting me test these fragrances
