The law of attraction, so much that has been said and written about this subject and I’m still wondering about how I exactly have to deal with it. And with the word attraction I don’t mean a physical kind between two persons but the larger things you’re appealing to in life. I’ve been thinking a lot about this subject the past few years and a documentary called The Secret inspired me to write a little post about this subject.

Let’s start with explaining what The Secret is all about… It’s a best-selling sel-help book written by Rhonda Byrne and launched in 2006. I have the book at home for a few years now and started reading in it twice without any success. So last week I decided to watch the documentary and I have to admit that I failed to finish it again although I do think it’s a very important subject. What the writer of the book (or all the people mentioned in the book) actually wants to say is that positive thinking can create life-changing results such as an increase of happiness, health and wealth. For example, if you really really want a job so badly you just have to imagine you already have it, if you believe in it hard enough than your dreams will come true. Now I do think that this is a very interesting subject but personally, I don’t like the typical ‘American’ approach of both the book and the movie.

What I believe is that our minds are very powerful tools and that most of the time we can do and reach more than we could ever imagine. Also, I’m fully convinced of the fact that when you see things in a positive way, you’ll attract positivity. This may all sound very abstract but it’s actually just all about controlling your thoughts and ban the negativity out of it. If you’re always thinking “I can’t do this”, “I don’t deserve this” or “it will never happen to me” than you’ll never end up where you want to be.

Even when writing this post I’m being too realistic… What if you were born in the ‘wrong’ country or what if just something bad happens to you or someone you love. And I just realized that’s the thing (and a thing I always do), the law of attraction isn’t about being ‘realistic’, it’s about what you want for yourself in this life. We’re all living here and now so we can better chase after what we aim for and truly make the best out of it.
