Maybe return isn’t the precise wording since the Old Skool Vans have never disappeared. But the past few months the model was omnipresent once again. I predict there’s even a chance that it will take over a part of Stan Smith’s market share.

The model debuted in 1977 and was first called “Style 36”. It was recognizable by the iconic Vans side tripe that became the hallmark for the brand up till now. I personally wasn’t aware of the fact that this sneaker has been out there for quite a while. In my fish stick memory Vans was only founded in the nineties… That’s another tidbit I can add to my memoir.
