After a loooong and intense period of all work and just a little bit of play I finally decided to say goodbye to Belgium for one week. Together with my vacation partner, the great miss Sara Tamà, I headed to Taba, a small village located at the Red Sea and in the Egyptian Sinaï desert.

For one week the only things we did were a lot of reading, eating and sleeping, catching up vitamin D, taking sauna’s, watching fish in the sea and going for a camel ride on the beach. It felt so damn great to forget about everything in the homeland, being completely zen and just live our lives according to the rhythm of the sun.

During this week of peace and quiet we did make one exception for the wonders of cultural heritage, Petra in Jordan. Sara and I wanted to behold this historical city founded by the Nabataeans for a very long time already. Tuesday morning we decided to cross borders and took a boat at 5.45 to the beautiful port of Aqaba, there a bus picked us up for a fantastic trip around the Jordanian landscape.

Three hours later we arrived at the entrance of Petra, getting ready for a long but very inspiring walk through the canyons. We were almost sweating when our eyes catched a first glimpse of the famous temple, goosebumps! We continued our walk to the amphitheater and the urn tomb but unfortunately we didn’t get the time to see everything because apparently it takes at least three days to visit the entire city. Let’s say it’s a reason to book a trip to Jordan, I definitely want to see more of this country.

I have to admit that I kinda had a hard time to be back in Belgium, not only because of the weather, it felt like the magic was gone. This fantastic trip made me realize again that I definitely have to travel more often, it’s relaxing and most of all very inspiring.

With special thanks to Sara Tamà, my fantastic friend in travel and to Fred & Jenny, the sweetest neighbors
